I believe this effect is called the "Prandtl-Glauert Singularity", and occurs in aircraft at transonic speeds, (at near <> the speed of sound).

No expert but looks like it is breaking the sound barrier.
 
It doesn't even have to go that fast...just needs speed and high humidity.

I see much less dramatic versions of the Prandtl-Glauert condensation phenomenon when I'm on a commercial jet aircraft landing in a humid place (like Houston). But this picture is amazing.
